I was surprised to learn that Paige Davis was returning to
Trading Spaces. After she was removed from the show in 2005, and they went to a host-less format, it faded into obscurity; I thought it had been canceled. It turns out that many other people thought the same thing. It is rumored that some minor tabloid stories lent to her firing. Regardless of why she was fired, she found it a harsh experience.
Trading Spaces is an hour-long television reality program that made a huge splash on TLC and the Discovery Home channel. It copied the very popular British TV show, Changing Rooms and was popular from its debut in 2000. It became a runaway hit when Paige Davis was hired in 2001. Unlike most home decorating shows of the time, Trading Spaces was the first show to go beyond furniture selection and wall decor. They did not give you instructions on how to make unique
wall decoration for the home. They actually re-did a room while you watched. Trading spaces is more about giving you ideas than instructions.
Paige thought the Networks plans to bring her back were a joke. She realized they were serious after she discovered a different team that was hiring her back. During her "time off", she spent time in television show development for CBS and did quite a bit of regional theatre. She also did the National tour of Sweet Charity, and wrote and premiered in a one-woman cabaret.
Things you will not see on the New Trading Spaces:

Your little girl is growing up, and she wants a room that isn’t about teddy bears and ballerinas. Help her create a room that is beautiful, but still reflects the fact that she is all girl. Paint, bedding and accessories, such as wall mounted candle holders, will help you create a look that both of you will love for years to come.
Parents are quick to want to paint a girl’s room pink. But there are other options that are just as feminine without making your daughter feel like she is still in a “little girl’s” room. While soft colors are an obvious choice, if your daughter really wants a bold color, there are still ways to soften the room with the accessories.
Wall mounted candle holders and wall sconces are two ideas that will add a touch of the feminine to the room. While certainly not all such accessories are feminine, there are some, such as the Vienna Wall Candle Holder, that have detailing that make them perfect for a girl’s room. The swirls and delicate size of this wall candle holder make it a perfect choice.
While it would also look great in a dining room or over a mantle, this accessory may be just what you need to put a touch of the delicate into your daughter’s room. One obvious question would involve the possible danger of having candles in a child’s room. Many people hang sconces and other candle holders purely for decorative purposes with no intention of lighting the candles. They look just as lovely whether the candles are lit or not.
Help your daughter create a room that you both can live with. You’ll both be glad you did.

The foyer is often overlooked when decorating a home, but since it’s the first place a guest will see, it makes sense to pay special attention to how the area is decorated. It’s simple to give your foyer a pulled together look. The use of some wall sconces or other metal wall decorations can make a bland foyer come to life.
Whether your entry way is large or small, you don’t want the walls to be completely bare. While you may not need as much wall art decor as in other rooms in your house, adding one well-chosen piece, such as some square wall décor, can make all the difference.
One perfect choice for a foyer is the Lavita Iron Square Wall Grille. Because of its shape, it will hang perfectly over a bench or chest. It provides enough detail that it can serve as the focal point of the area. If your foyer is larger, it will look great flanked by candle holders or hung on either side of a metal framed mirror.
The paint color should be the same or very similar as the adjoining room. This is especially true if the foyer itself is on the small side. Keep the area from being cluttered. Don’t allow it to be used as a catchall for shoes and sports gear.
Let a neat, well decorated space be the first thing your guests see when they come for a visit!

You have moved into your first place, and now you are faced with the task of decorating. While the first priority is, obviously, furniture and the other necessities you didn’t know you needed, there is no reason that you can’t infuse a bit of style into your new home. Wall decorations don’t have to cost a fortune, so why wait?
While your budget may be limited due to all of the expenses involved with living on your own for the first time, you can add a lot of style with a just a few well-chosen accessories.
Even if your sofa was a flea market special (and looks like one), you can dress it up by adding some inexpensive and colorful throw pillows. Pillows are a great way to add color and quickly and easily change the look of your room for the seasons, or just because you’re bored.
For you walls, consider metal wall décor. Because many of the choices are very detailed, you won’t need to purchase a lot of wall decorations. One or two pieces will stand alone.
For example, the Salzburg Round Iron Wall Decor is visually interesting enough to be the focal point of the entire room. It will look great hanging over a sofa or in the bedroom or dining room. For a large wall, center it between two wall sconces for a complete look.
Just because your budget isn’t huge, doesn’t mean your new place has to be small on style. With a little planning, your home will look great, and you’ll be proud to show it off!

Your husband said he wants to add a bar area to your recreation room, and you must admit that you are hesitant. All that you can imagine is a painting of dogs playing poker hanging next to a mirror advertising his favorite beer.
The good news is that a bar area doesn’t have to be so tacky, and with just a few good design choices, you’ll be able to create an area that both of you will appreciate.
One thing to consider is lighting. Rather than the typical hanging bar lamp, opt instead for something a bit more elegant. Consider hanging lights on the wall behind the bar and surrounding the lights with metal wall hangings. This will provide adequate lighting and also give the area an elegant look.
Another option is to find a small chandelier to hang over the bar. That would leave the area behind the bar open to hang some appropriate wall art. A perfect choice is the Diamond Wall Candle Holders. This gorgeous piece of sculpture is so visually interesting that it will easily be the focal point of the room, rather than the bar itself.
This wall candle holder could hang alone or you may consider pairing it with some very simple metal wall hangings. Because the candle holder is so visually compelling, pairing it with anything to intricate may cause the space to look cluttered.
A dark wood bar, proper lighting and a few good wall hangings and you’ll have a bar area that is both functional and beautiful.

If the walls in your den, study or home office have remained bare far too long, this blog contains a few tips to help you select wall decor that will complement the overall style of the room.
What do you already have going on in your room? Did you choose light colored furniture and pastel accents? If so, then choose artwork that is in keeping with this light and airy feeling. Consider beautiful paintings or prints in wooden frames.
On the other hand, if your existing decor is more masculine, such as dark mahogany furniture and bold colored accents, you will want to opt for artwork that will work with – rather than compete against – those elements. Iron wall art is a great choice for such a room.
A perfect example is the Revalia Metal Wall Art.
This piece is an interesting sculpture that combines a combination of textures, colors and angles that make the piece visually interesting.
It would look great hanging over a credenza and is bold enough to become the focal point of the room. Consider hanging more simple pieces of iron wall art on either side to create a look that will fill an entire wall.
Your office space doesn’t have to be boring. It can, and should, have as much style as the rest of your home. With careful selection of wall décor that works with your existing design elements, you’ll create a work space that is both usable and beautiful.

When decorating a guest room, many people think that they have to keep the décor, including bedding, paint and wall hangings, as simple as possible. While it is important that the room be appealing to any guests who may visit, there are ways to choose a theme and carry it off in an understated way.
A jungle theme is a fun decorating choice that doesn’t have to be over the top to work, and can appeal to every overnight guest. Choose wall color in earth tones and bedding in colors or prints that remind you of being on a safari. Remember, you can take this theme as far as you want.
Your bedding can be as simple as earthy brown to something as fun as an animal print. Both will lend themselves to a jungle theme that matches your personal sense of style.
Wall hangings for your jungle room will be easy to find. There are animal prints that are whimsical and others that are elegant enough to hang in your living room. Consider hanging some decorative candle sconces that will work well with your theme.
A perfect choice is the Tongeren Wall Candle Holders. These will add a bit of an exotic look while still being elegant. These wall candle holders will look perfect on either side of the bed or over the dresser with a mirror placed in between.
Have fun with your room. Your guests are sure to have a wildly good time!

You like things crisp, sharp and clean. Your decorating style doesn’t include a lot of knick knacks and the last thing you want to see is clutter. Sometimes, though, it’s easy for such a room to come off as cold, and you need some special wall treatments to make sure your minimalist room isn’t boring.
Metal wall art lends itself perfectly to such rooms, especially rooms that have a slightly modern slant. Choose pieces that have interesting angles as this will help soften the other stark lines that may be present in the room.
Also, in a room that is totally devoid of clutter or knick knacks, you’ll want to have wall art that is interesting enough to be the visual focal point of the room.
An excellent example is the Mazzi Metal Wall Art. It’s a piece of art that is beautiful enough to hang in any room. Its unique angles, colors and textures will be able to provide just the amount of visual interest that your room needs.
The Mazzi Metal Wall Art will fit in with even the most modern décor. Decorating with a modern feel can be tricky. If you don’t know what you’re doing, your room can come across as cold. Adding pieces such as this, as well as other well-selected metal wall sculptures, can counteract this cold feel.
You don’t have to be a professional decorator to achieve the look you want. With the addition of the right accessories, your room will looked as pulled together as if you’d hired a professional designer.
Happy New Year

While dramatic canopy beds have largely been replaced by sleek fabric covered headboards and modern platform beds, it’s still easy to bring elements of romance into a bedroom without having to sacrifice the modern look that has become so popular.
A platform bed that is, on its own, a little plain can easily be dressed up with the right wall décor. Since the bed is so cool and sleek, you’ll want to choose a wall color that will bring warmth to the room.
Next choose art work, candle sconces and other wall accessories that will provide visual interest. A great way to add a touch of romance is to introduce some iron wall plaques into the décor.
The selection of an iron wall plaque, such as the beautifully ornate Firenze Iron Wall piece, can introduce and intricate design and still allow you to achieve a modern look. One way to bring these pieces into the room is to place matching iron wall plaques on either side of the bed.
Another option is to hang a metal framed mirror over the dresser, flanked on either side by metal wall art. You’ll be surprised at how much elegance these simple and relatively inexpensive items can add to your room.
Lovely patterned throw rugs and bedding can add the final romantic touches.
Young, modern and hip doesn’t have to mean your room is void of all elegance and romance. There is no reason that you can’t have the best of both worlds!
Happy New Year
