A lot of furniture stores have been offering furniture sets complete with lamps tables, and accessories. They do this to give the customer the impression of getting a better value for their money. Personally, I find that I would rather they just lower the price of the furniture set a bit and leave me to purchase my accessories myself.
It is my opinion that accessories should never be chosen because they match or coordinate with a room. Instead accessories should be much more personal and reflect the experiences, likes, and dislikes of the home’s occupant.
Still many people do not feel secure inserting their own personalities into their home décor accessories and wall art. They are afraid that the items they love most will not match, or they are shy about showing off what is personal to them.
This Bergen Live, Laugh, Love Metal Wall Art is one of those rare pieces that will give you a personal connection to the art piece and also coordinate with just about anything. This art piece is inspirational and encouraging and has warm earth tones on a neutral base that will complement most environments.

A focal point is an element in a room that catches the eye of anyone who enters. It causes a person to focus their attention on the room’s main element.
Many rooms have the focal point already built in. The focal point can be a fireplace wall, it can be a set of French doors with a wonderful view. The focal point can even be a dramatic archway or columns in a room.
For rooms that do not have a focal point, you can create one yourself. You can use an entertainment center and Television set as your room’s focal point. You can add built in bookshelves with beautiful leather bound books as your focal point. You can add a dramatic piece of art to create the focal point in your room.
This Cauda Three Dimensional Contemporary Metal Art, for example, makes a great focal point. It is bold, dramatic, quite large, at 30” X 55” and 3” deep. It is abstract, geometrical, well balanced and versatile and can be displayed in any number of ways. With this amazing wall art sculpture on your wall, how can anyone look at anything else?

The problem that most people have when choosing colors for their home is choosing colors. They don’t know what color to paint the walls. They don’t know what fabric to buy. They don’t know what color to choose for the flooring. Choosing upholstery is an even bigger dilemma. To solve this puzzle, you should choose the 60-30-10 rule.
The 60-30-10 rule originated with the designing of business suits to select fabric colors and patterns. When designing a home, the 60-30-10 rule is a great tool to use. Basically the one color in the room will used for 60% of the design elements. Another color in the room will be used for 30%, making it the secondary color in the room. The final color should be used for 10% of the rooms design elements.
The only other thing you need to remember when utilizing the 60-30-10 rule of choosing colors is that the colors you choose should be monochromatic or analogous colors (colors next to each other on the color wheel) if you want a warm relaxing affect. If you want a dramatic effect in your home, you should use complementary colors (which are found on opposite sides of the color wheel).
This Faro Three Dimensional Contemporary Metal Wall Art also follows the 60-30-10 rule. You will notice that it 60% of the Metal Wall Art Piece is from the background to ornaments are a dark steel color. Then 30% of the elements on the art piece are brass, and the remaining 10% is copper.
This wall art is particularly attractive due to the combination of colors and patterns in a color balance that is pleasing to the eye. This substantial abstract art piece is 38” X 37” in size and two inches deep. It can be displayed vertically or horizontally and will look great in any contemporary or modern room.

Scale is a very important element when it comes to home design. When choosing furniture, accessories, and even fabrics, you need to pay attention to the how of the item size or pattern size related to its surroundings.
You will instantly be aware of the element of scale if you were to move from a small home into a larger home. Your standard sized sofa with a low back, will instantly seem out of place in a great room with 18 foot high ceilings. Your mantle candlesticks will look like miniature toy pieces on the mantle in such a grand sized room.
Not only do you need to match the try to match the scale of your furniture to the scale of your home, but when it comes to patterns you need to be sure the scale does not match. If you sofa is upholstered in a bold large floral print, for example, you don’t want to math it with a similarly bold fabric with wide stripes. The details on these items will fight for your visual attention and neither will stand out. On the other hand, if you take that floral sofa and pair it with a pin-stripe fabric you will have a perfect combination that makes each item stand out individually.
Speaking of scale, lets take a look at the
60” Atlantic Sailfish Half Mount Fish Replica. It is a gigantic and fun
wall art piece that will surely take the center stage in any room. Because of its huge size, it can also overwhelm a room that is on the small side. You might want to go for a smaller version if you live in a small ranch home with low ceilings and small rooms. This fish replica art piece is five feet long and will look great in a rustic cabin, is great for a seafood restaurant, or a home with big rooms and high ceilings. While this art piece is made of fiberglass, it is extremely life like and very easy to clean. It is study enough to hang outdoors and even at the dockside.

Finished basements are increasing in popularity, especially since few people are upgrading their homes. The next best thing is to finish unused space. The finished basement can be used as a recreation and entertainment area for the family. It can be transformed into a guest suite for in-laws; it can also be turned into a man’s retreat.
The basement is a popular place for a mans domain because for many men it is a place where the wife will leave him to create and decorate the area as he pleases. If you want to create your own man’s retreat in the basement, here are some ideas that you may want to use.
Design the room around your favorite sport or activity. If you like golf, use lots of gold memorabilia and accents. If you like football, use football décor and elements. If you love fishing, use a lake/ fishing motif.
Use rich masculine fabrics and finishes. Forget about trying to cater to a woman’s sensibilities. If you prefer all leather and tweed upholstery, then go with it. If you want everything chocolate brown, then don’t worry about adding in a pastel color if you don’t want to.
Use large bold unexpected wall decor and accessories. A retreat should have lots of eye candy that is memorable and also fun. Look for items that suit your personality.
If you like fishing, one item in particular that you may like is this fiberglass 50” Mahi Half Mount fish Replica. At over four feet long, this mounted fish replica gives a completely new meaning to “you should have seen the one that got away”. It is an excellent centerpiece for a basement retreat, a den, or a lodge style home. It is extremely lifelike and easy to clean and can even be mounted outside or by the dock as it is cast in resilient fiberglass.

When staging a home to present it for sale, sellers should remove personal items and photographs from the home. Unfortunately, this can leave the room quite bare. This can give an unkempt affect that you also don’t want prospective buyers to see. Therefore, it is necessary to replace your personal art with other art.
The wall art you purchase to replace your existing art does not have to be dull and boring. It can still be unique, dynamic, and beautiful. It just has to be something that does not tell too much about who you are.
This Alvega Three dimensional Contemporary Metal Wall Art is an excellent wall décor item to display in your staged home. It is a steel sculpture with a rich wood look and a bit un altered steel used in the design. This is an abstract wall art sculpture that is generic enough to use in a staged home while being beautiful enough for the buyer to request that you leave it behind. Of course, you won’t want to.
This wall art piece is large and substantial at 38"High x 46"Wide x 3"Deep and weighs 30 pounds. This wall sculpture will continue to compliment your home through style changes and moves from one home to another.

Candles are awesome for setting the mood for parties or romance. Unfortunately, candles are also one of the more dangerous décor items in the home. Not only can you burn candles in your home safely, but you can also burn candles in your home in a way that is extremely attractive.
The key to burning candles safely is to use a candle holder that allows your candle to burn away from any items that may catch fire. A candleholder plaque will have backing that can handle the heat from a candle without getting hot. It must also be made so that it is difficult to sit or hang things next to it that can also be set on fire.
This Amelia Wall Candle Holder Plaque will allow you to burn several candles safely on your wall. It is an impressive wall art piece that can hold up to 10 candles at one time which will make an impressive light feature on your wall. It will also look very attractive with just a few candles on it or none at all.
This wall art sculpture and candle holder is 39.5” high times 28” wide and weighs 17 pounds. In addition to the ability to hold numerous candles, it is also very attractive on its own with leaf motifs, medallions, and rich copper and rust tones.

A room without wall art is like a dinner without dessert. You will have the basics that you need, but you may feel like you’re missing something. This is why adding wall art to your rooms is a very important part of decorating.
You don’t have to fill your walls with paintings and wall art sculptures to give the room a finished look. You can instead focus all of your efforts on one wall or even on piece of art. You should choose something with a dramatic effect that you find yourself drawn to. If you love it, there is a good chance your friends and family will like it as well.
This Baden Metal Wall Art piece is a wonderful item to use as a crowing jewel in your room. It is a metal wall sculpture made up of many small pieces with a center mirror that has a three dimensional effect due to coloring and placement of each piece.
This wall sculpture with mirror is designed to dazzle and mesmerize the viewer. This metal wall art is entrancing and will automatically attract the eye of anyone who enters the room. At 32” by 32”, it is large enough to serve as the focal piece in the room. It priced low enough to make the purchase of two or three of these pieces affordable if you wan to create a dynamic feature wall.

Many new homes are adorned dramatically with a wall in the main room that features a wall of windows. A wall of windows is a wall in a room that holds all or most of the windows of the room and may have several rows of windows. There is much more windows to the wall than actual wall.
Dressing a wall of windows can be challenging. You don’t want to lessen the effect of the windows, meanwhile you may want to add a personal touch to the wall that makes it unique to your style.
A good way to add an extra element to a wall of windows without using curtains is to install architectural art pieces in between the walls of windows. This will make your windows stand out as unique in a neighborhood where everyone has a similar feature in their home.
Using this Two Piece Set Chateau Arch is a great wall décor element to use to dress up your wall of windows. Together, the set is approximately 55” long X 31” high and can be installed above windows, above doors, above a sofa, or in an alcove to add a timelessly classic look to your home.
This wall art sculpture set is made of cast resin and comes with installation hardware.
It is French in style and will coordinate well with any style from shabby child to contemporary.

Many new homes feature two story foyers. This gives the home an immediate dramatic effect upon entering the home. It also poses some design challenges. Many people with two story foyers long to add some kind of wall art to the upper foyer walls, but they are at a loss as to how to go about it. They don’t know what kind of art to hang. They don’t know how a viewer would even get to see it.
For two story foyers, I like to install architectural art such as metal grills and walls. Forged metal wall décor is easy to see from the floor and seldom has details that are so intricate that they need to be seen up close.
One such item that would be great to decorate a two story foyer with is this Dinia Metal Door Wall Décor. It is reminiscent of a garden gate, or manor door and goes will with many design styles from Southeast, to eclectic, to traditional.
This metal wall art is quite large, at 26” by 55”, so it stands alone quite well. It weighs 25 pounds making it substantial, but not so heavy that when hung professionally that it will not stay in place indefinitely. This metal art creation has forged elements, and hammered elements and is quite beautiful and detailed. It also has contrasting details on it.

www.walldecorandhomeaccents.com/wallmirrors.html Too many of us take home décor too seriously. Sure, we need to be careful about how we spend out money so that we will not be repeating the same purchases over and over. Of course, we need to treat furniture as an investment. Still, if you do not have a bit of fun with furniture and décor purchases, your home will cease to have personality.
Every home needs a bit of whimsy, something unexpected, or something absolutely unique. This is easily accomplished with abstract art pieces, chairs that are also sculptural, and items with no purpose other than beauty.
Don’t get too carried away however when adding fun pieces to your home décor. You actually can have one too many toilet paper waiters. More than one sculptural chair can frighten away houseguests. One too may naked stone cherubs may even put you on the tacky list. So when you do purchase fun home décor, try to keep the number and kind of these decorative art pieces to a minimum.
The Elbe Loop de Loop Contemporary wall mirror is an excellent way to add fun to your home décor. It is made of hand brushed aluminum and is a beautiful as it is functional, from the working mirror to the glass shelf that will hold a slim vase, or perhaps your makeup brush.
This decorative wall art mirror is 58" long x 42" wide x and approximately 1.5” in depth. It weights 65 pounds and comes with hanging hardware.

If you love ultra modern decorating, you may have found that it is hard to put together a dining room that is trendy. With a little patience and a lot of searching, you will eventually be able to pull together ultra modern dining rooms that will serve you for years to come.
Artistic items: A table for example might have black metal legs and an inlaid wood design on top. A table base can also be a sculpture that balances a gloss top.
Style and function: Look for items that have both style and function. Chairs forged from one piece of strong metal can be esthetically beautiful, comfortable, and functional at the same time.
High Quality: Ultra modern dining room décor should be made from high quality items that will not break or wear excessively over time. Avoid laminate and pressed wood items, and stick with stone, glass, metals, and high quality wood.
Unexpected and unusual: An ultra modern dining room should feature items that are unexpected and unusual. This Esino Tangled Contemporary Wall Mirror would compliment an Ultra modern dining room well. This striking mirrored art piece is made from brushed aluminum and high quality reflective glass. It adds light and energy to your uniquely designed room with its abstract design of circles and curly-q’s.
This unusual abstract mirror is quite large in size at 43" high x 70" wide and 1.5” deep. It is quite substantial in nature, weighting 46lbs and comes with a one year warranty and hanging hardware and instructions.

If you were hoping to purchase furniture “Woofy” furniture designed by none other than Britney Spears, I am sad to inform you that the project has been cancelled. It seems that Britney’s Dad and manager pulled out of the furniture deal because he felt Danish entrepreneur Claus Hjelmback was using Britney for publicity more than for actually designing anything.
I guess I am more surprised that Britney Spears was designing furniture in the first place than that the project was cancelled. It just never crossed my mind as being a furniture designer. Considering the fact that I believe a person’s clothes represent their furniture surroundings, all I can envision, are pink, fuzzy, and items that glitter.
Still I like Britney, and if I were going to imagine a piece of furniture she might design, I would pick Adda Dreamscape Contemporary Wall Mirror. This mirror/ art piece is reminiscent of Jetsons science fiction cartoons at one glance, and as an organic piece of art the next minute. It is shiny with its aluminum framing, and has a beveled glass cut mirror. It is free flowing and appears to be ever changing, just like Britney!
This is a huge wall art mirror at 42" wide x 68" long x 1.5" deep so it would take up an entire wall, and dominate an entire room. It is 48 lbs with a 1 year warranty and has hanging hardware included.
Just for clarity, I am going to remind you that this mirror wasn’t actually designed by Britney Spears, but my idea of what I think would come out of her collection if there was ever a chance of such a collection happening. I think she might like a Swarovski mirror as well.

Your bedroom is the place where you go to relax, and recharge. Because only the closest family members and friends ever see the bedroom, we seldom take the time and initiative to make our bedrooms truly extravagant. You can turn your bedroom into a wonderful retreat by adding a bit of extravagance to your bedroom. Here are some tips you can use.
Add Gold Trim: You do not have to change your wall color, curtains, and bedding to make your room extravagant. Just adding trim to your existing items will do the trick. Pick up gold paint from your hardware store and paint the molding in your room. Purchase gold braid trim or tassels and add them to your bedding and window treatments as well. You can also use gold paint to stencil a sophisticated design in your room, or to accent your wood furniture.
Add layers: The more layers your room has, the more luxurious it will appear. You can add layers with pillows, window treatments, throws in addition to bedding, and lots of multi-sized pillows.
Add Decorative accents: Do not forget to accessorize your bedroom. Hang large wall decor art with shiny gold picture frames. Add beautiful lamps, with dangling crystals. Do not forget to add lots of decorative candles (and use them too).
This set of Asos Metal Wall Planters is great for adding more extravagance into your bedroom. They are made of metal, and have a wonderful aged and gilded finish. Add these on the wall in your room to allow you to keep fresh flowers and greenery in the room without taking up table space.

There are numerous decorating styles from modern, to traditional, to arts and crafts, to country, to ancient. The two most opposing of these styles would be modern and ancient. People tend to gravitate toward one style or another, and cross over into similar styles. It is most rare however for a person to enjoy both modern and ancient styles at the same time.
While it is difficult, you can create your own eclectic style by combining modern and ancient elements. When you are combining such opposing styles, you need to coordinate by tying together items that are similar in color and materials.
Since combining opposing styles can be tricky an even jarring to the sensibilities,
keeping the same color scheme throughout your decorating and accessories will bring a calming effect to your overall design. Likewise, look for finishes that are constant in both your modern and eclectic designs.
This Antalya Metal Wall Vase set is an item that would go well into your ancient/modern design scheme. It is inspired by items found in the ancient cities of Antalya on the Mediterranean coast of Southwest Turkey. It has wrought iron scrolled details on top of a molded metal box for putting your ivy, plants, and other items.
You can coordinate these ancient type accessories with a modern metal and leather sofa in tones of black and brown. Wood and iron modern coffee tables would coordinate well with such an item as well. In addition to coordinating these wall vases with modern décor, it will also go well with traditional, eclectic, and country décor as well.

While few people would actually recreate a real Turkish bath, where several people would bathe at one time, many would add decorative elements of a Turkish bath into their homes. To add elements of a Turkish bath into your own bathroom, here are some elements you can use.
Walls and floors should be covered with ceramic tiles.which gives many years of use and also remain beautiful for a very long time. If you can afford to use marble instead of tile, that would be a more authentic option.
Bathroom fixtures are light and natural in color. White walls where tile is not possible and gold stencils on the ceiling and wherever possible will give a great decorative touch.
Fixtures such as tubs, toilets and sinks would be old-world antique in nature. These items should have modern functions such as Jacuzzi’s , a bidet (or bidet function for the toilet), and have beautiful and modern faucets. Waterfall faucets and decorative bowls are a great touch.
When accessorizing your Turkish bathroom, look for old world Mediterranean pieces like this Efes Wooden Wall planter. It is 17”H X 13.5W’ and is intricately carved from wood and has a brilliant, yet aged finished. Add a single wall planter, or several of these planters to your bathroom, with the addition of plants to instantly transform your bathroom into a Turkish Bath experience.
Add a few of these architectural art pieces as well for a more authentic look.
